    Title: Front of House (FOH) Manager

    Reports to: Director of Operations, Executive Director

    Position Summary:

    The Front of House Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and Director of Strategic Operations. The FOH Manager is responsible for organizing and coordinating restaurant/office operations and procedures in order to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency. The FOH Manager is in control of ensuring that all components within the restaurant are functioning correctly and smoothly to certify that the restaurant is best represented to the public on all accounts and is operating consistently up to standards at all times.

    As the FOH Manager, you are required to be present on the floor during service. It is essential that the FOH Manager be an expert on all aspects of service. If any one section of the restaurant needs help, the FOH Manager should be able to identify the problem immediately, direct and delegate action in order to solve the problem, and/or jump in if necessary.  This requires being well versed with the menu, service, and rules and guidelines. This also requires a hands-on manager who is constantly striving for the perfect guest experience. This means that they are constantly monitoring all aspects of the experience: the atmosphere, the food, and the service. A proactive, positive, “in-charge” attitude is vital.

    The FOH Manager will also assist the Director of Strategic Projects and Executive Director with marketing, menu concepts, financials and budgeting, property management, human resources and all back office and internal operations.

     

    Essential Job Functions/ Day to Day Responsibilities

    • Opening: ensure that staff and the restaurant are setup for success
    • Closing: ensure that the restaurant is sanitary and closed properly and securely
    • Answering incoming calls and responding to voicemails left on office line
    • Overseeing cash flow and storing customer receipts in the appropriate designated area after each work day
    • Double checking clock in/out times, adjusting times if necessary
    • Knowing the ins and outs of POS, being able to adjust prices, add employees, add buttons, and take action if systems are down
    • Organization and upkeep of office area and paperwork in filing cabinets
    • Assist senior management team with menu design and development
    • 7Shifts App; Scheduling of staff, adding/removing employees, communicating key announcements, billing, maintenance and updates, etc…
    • Responsible for P&L log for each operating day
    • Assist Director of Strategic Operations with hiring, onboarding process, termination decisions, disciplinary action of employees and organizing and tracking files and incidents

    Position Summary:

    The Windlass Pizza Chef is expected to make delicious pizzas based on both traditional and modern recipes. Pizza Chef responsibilities include preparing pizza dough, slicing and chopping toppings like vegetables and meats and executing customers’ orders considering special requests. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with various pizza types and be available to work during business hours. Must have ability to lift 50+lbs, endure standing for long periods of time, work in a fast-paced environment, and multi-task. Ultimately, you will help increase client satisfaction by preparing high-quality pizzas.

     

    Below are the Windlass’ responsibilities and requirements (in no particular order) for the Pizza Chef position:

     

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare pizza dough
    • Prepare pizzas out of our menu and based on custom orders
    • Wash and chop vegetables (for example, tomatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms)

    • Work experience as a Pizza Chef or similar role in a restaurant

    The bartender position is a key position in the restaurant. They must have a vast knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits as well as an outgoing personality. Bartenders are responsible for counting the drawer before and after the shift, handling cash and closing out checks. Most importantly they work for the house, including the “proper pour” for drinks adhering to the house policy of complimentary drinks and minimizing waste. They are generally the first impression that a customer makes of the establishment when they come in.

As Expo, you must have excellent communication skills and experience in a restaurant’s hectic setting. You must also have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes and people.     A Busser works primarily in the front of the house and is required to tend to many needs of the dining room before, during and after service. Bussers assist the servers in keeping the customer’s needs met.  They also help to keep a clean and properly maintained dining room. A Bussers speed and efficiency helps turn over tables contributing to increased sales volume.  As Bussers have direct contact with customers, it is important that they speak clearly and make eye contact with colleagues and customers alike. Bussers also play a role in helping maintain and uphold sanitation and cleanliness standards.

    -Kitchen and Ice Cream Staff: Taking orders in person and over the phone, making orders, bagging, cashing out, and delivering orders to customers.
